Multiple Arrests Made in The Gambia for Suspected Drug Trafficking

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) has reported several arrests related to drug trafficking in various parts of the country, over the las 48 hours.

On the 17th of March 2024, Frank Manneh (22), Ebrima Manneh (22), and Alieu Wally (21), all Senegalese residents of Tamba Kunda, were arrested by the Fatoto DLEAG station. They were found in possession of a large bundle of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement paper and placed inside a red and white nylon bag.

Another incident occurred on the 18th of March 2024 when Alieu Jallow (23), Mustapha Njie (22), and Abdul Karim Keita (24), all fishermen from Tanji, were arrested by the Brusubi DLEAG station. They were found with a large bundle and 153 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in cement and white papers and placed inside a multicolor nylon bag.

Additionally, a 14-year-old alleged child offender (ACO), a student residing in Bakau New Town, was arrested by the Bakoteh Police Station on the 16th of March 2024. The individual was found with some quantities of suspected kush concealed in a multicolor nylon bag.

Further arrests were made on the 20th of March 2024 when Aiah Morseay (24), a Sierra Leonean residing in Latri Kunda German and a tailor by occupation, was arrested by the Bakau DLEAG Station at Sukuta traffic light. Morseay was found with four wraps of suspected kush concealed in a DVD player and a Bluetooth device.

Lastly, Musa Samateh (22), Abdoulie Nyassi (32), and Momodou Bah (51), residents of Duwasu Village, were arrested by the Darsilameh Border Post on the 19th of March 2024. They were found with six big bundles and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white and cement papers and placed inside a white nylon bag.

All the suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations are ongoing. The DLEAG continues its efforts to combat drug trafficking in The Gambia.
